What You Can Do After This Chapter

Learning objective. Learner compares Faster Payments, CHAPS, and BACS in the United Kingdom, explaining speed, limits, finality, and use cases, and routes a sterling payment to the correct system. Learner practises this skill on realistic banking cases, explaining the reasoning clearly and using correct terminology throughout the work.

Practical assessment. Learner receives six sterling payment needs, including a 150,000 pound same-day house purchase payment, a 250 pound instant transfer, and a monthly 800 pound direct debit, and selects Faster Payments, CHAPS, or BACS for each. Learner then explains what happens when a Faster Payments transfer exceeds the bank limit and how the customer is informed. Learner presents the work with calculations and assumptions stated clearly, then reviews it against the chapter checklist and corrects any gaps before submission.

Expected deliverables.

Completion criterion. Learner routes at least five of six payments correctly, states each system speed and limit accurately, and explains the limit breach handling clearly. Judgement covers accuracy, completeness, and clear written explanation in the submitted work.
